Our design philosophy is simple: Combine natural fibers using traditional techniques in ways that inspire and delight designers. In our design studio, we follow our inspirations, exploring combinations of color, texture and density while blending fibers and weaving techniques. Hundreds of ideas are explored, created, torn apart, reconsidered and rebuilt to perfect each timeless design.

METICULOUSLY SELECTING EACH RAW MATERIAL

We believe that the quality and character of our products begins with the careful examination and selection of raw natural fibers. Working closely with local farmers, we handpick the finest rapidly renewable fibers– including arrowroot, river reed, ramie, palm, banana stem and water hyacinth. By cultivating these unique natural fibers from well-managed ecosystems and weaving near the source, we ensure authentic craftsmanship that leaves a smaller environmental footprint on the planet. SAFETY BY DESIGN

At Hartmann&Forbes, we are committed to the safety and health of those that use our natural window coverings. We make key decisions throughout the design, weaving and crafting process to ensure our products do not endanger those around them.
