Hartmann&Forbes Introduces Carbon Offset Shipping
Tualatin, ORE, Sep 27, 2011 - Hartmann&Forbes, maker of sustainable natural window coverings, announces its participation in UPS’s Carbon Neutral Program. The company will purchase carbon offsets for all of its standard domestic shipments, accounting for approximately 95% of the company’s shipping, at no charge to their clients.
“We appreciate the opportunity that UPS has provided us,” says Michael Jones, the company’s founder and CEO. “We hope that businesses and individuals alike who ship UPS join us in this commitment to sustainability. Think of the impact we could make globally if we all joined this effort together.”
Through this program, all the CO2 produced when Hartmann&Forbes ships its product to clients is offset by an equivalent amount saved at a verified emission project somewhere else in the world. Using Carbonfund.org’s shipping calculator, the company has estimated that it could offset nearly 40 thousand lbs of carbon dioxide annually through this program.
UPS Carbon Neutral has received third party certification by The CarbonNeutral Company, who has guaranteed its quality and credibility, and certifies that UPS’ CO2 emissions have been measured and reduced to net zero through its protocol. As an added bonus, UPS has agreed to match offsets purchased by their customers through 2011, up to $1 million.
