Introducing Company's First Woven to Size, Custom Window Covering Collection
Date of Release:
Saturday May 1, 2010
TUALATIN, ORE.— Hartmann & Forbes, award-winning maker of natural window coverings of sustainable fibers, is launching its newest collection—The Liniedge Collection. Available in 37 designs, each Liniedge Collection piece is custom woven to size and is made from some of the most unique fibers in the industry including banana stem and water hyacinth. With the addition of The Liniedge Collection, Hartmann & Forbes now offers nearly 400 natural weaves.

"The Liniedge Collection is the culmination of generations of weaving traditions,” said Michael Jones, founder and CEO of Hartmann & Forbes. “We were inspired to pay tribute to the original weavers who developed the craft of hand weaving centuries ago using simple, organic tools and wooden looms.”

The hallmark of The Liniedge Collection is that each design is custom woven to size using a meticulous technique of looping weft fibers at each edge, then shuttling them back through the loom to create a continuous warp-edge finish. Master craftsmen in the Pacific Northwest then hand finished the weave into shades and draperies using interior designers' exact specifications. Available up to 158" without seams, it is the widest continuous window covering collection in the industry.

The Liniedge Collection features best-in-class, sustainable fibers. The company worked closely with farmers in the South Pacific to select each rapidly renewable fiber used in the collection—including arrowroot, river reed, ramie, palm and more. The raw fibers are cultivated in well-managed ecosystems and woven near the source, before being shipped in bulk with other weaves to the U.S. for finishing. These steps ensure minimal environmental impact.
